I am interested in “how things work”. That is, the machinery of an entity. From the human genome during my science undergraduate years to the civil service in my graduate studies of public administration. I am interested in what processes are tethered onto others, what levers to pull to affect changes downstream. I am searching for the ultimate “driver”… so that I can push it.

I quite like your new introductory paragraph — very clever. You’ve combined your old and new academic pursuits into one sentence!
I like the new banner
A little more personalized, non?
Nicely composed, too.
Parliamentum was consistently 4,000 views behind Penning an Image, now it’s 3, 800.
I am now endeavouring to catch you to your number of hits!
Enjoy eating the dust I kick up behind me!
I will attain 7,000 tomorrow, which leaves a gap of 4,000. The gap is narrowing relative to last month, when it was 5,000.
People in the Recruitment of Policy Leaders Program would probably be a bit offended to see it described as an ‘internship’.
After all, the idea is to take people who already have significant accomplishments in another sector and transplant them into relatively high-level jobs within the civil service.
Good point Anon, thank you for pointing it out. The heading for that section has been revised to something more “encompassing”.
With this as your front page, it is hard to know when you put up new posts.
Hiya stranger,
I know where you’re coming from. My reason for setting my About page as the front page is two-folds. First, to ensure those visiting my site for the first time (especially if they don’t know me) to know who I am so they don’t pass a judgement based on the latest post. Second, to result in people poking around my site (again for those new visiters) so they may encounter older posts (that I think are still fabulous), on their hunt for the latest.
I have however, been considering getting a “Recent Posts” menu in the sidebar.
You said that you wanted me to comment on the blog itself rather than on Facebook — so you should indeed be careful what you wish for! How does one “pen an image”? That sounds like a paradox.
I’ve been making careful wishes James…I changed the Comments setting so that all Comments must be approved by me before they are published.
Penning an Image derives from how I conducted myself during the ancient Chinese ritual that is observed on a child’s first birthday. See http://rongroseliu.com/2011/05/30/my-website-and-i-share-the-same-birthday-no-its-not-a-coincidence/
But Machinery of Government is a good choice!
Why would you want to become PM? You could make more money and maintain a private life doing something else.
I love you very much and I love it very much too!
love it so far. Great way to celebrate your b-day.
Congratulations!
